1940 Mar 04 Plain Dealer Painesville Pastor is Called to Trinity Church in Heights Rev. Lester Wood, pastor of First Church (Congregational) of Painesville, yesterday announced his resignation and acceptance of a call from Trinity Congregational Church, 3357 Washington Boulevard, Cleveland Heights. Rev. Mr. Wood will assume the pastorate of Trinity Church the first Sunday in May. During his ministry since 1936 at First Church of Painesville, Rev. Mr. Wood has added 360 members. In 1937 he led the Congregational churches of the state in number of new members received. Part of Rev. Mr. Wood’s task at Trinity Church will be to increase the membership and to complete the building of the church, of which only the religious education unit is finished. For seven and a half years Rev. Mr. Wood served Chagrin Falls Congregational Church, now federated with the Disciples of Christ. From 1926 to 1936 he was minister of Highland Congregational Church here.

Lester Wood, minister of Trinity Congregational Church Cleveland Heights, has been called to the pulpit of Chagrin Falls Federated Church a church he helped found when he was called there from Oberlin Graduate School of Theology 23 years ago. It was announced yesterday. Chagrin Falls Federated Church was created through a union of Congregationalists and Disciples of Christ and was served by Rev. Mr. Wood seven years. Afterward he held pastorates at Highland Congregational Church, Painesville First Congregational Church, and Trinity Congregational Church, Cleveland Heights. Last September Rev. W. J. Lineback pastor of Chagrin Falls Federated Church resigned to become a chaplain in the army. Since then, Dr. Roy E. Bowers has been interim pastor. Rev. Mr. Wood will assume the duties of his charge Monday and will begin preaching Sunday Jun 7.
19531221 Plain Dealer Mrs. Lester Wood Services for Mrs. Nola Wood wife of Rev. Lester L. Wood, pastor of the Trumbull (Conn.) Congregational Church, were held in Trumbull yesterday. Burial will be at Greensfork, Ind, tomorrow. Mrs. Wood died Saturday at Bridgeport (Conn.) Hospital after an illness of several months. She and her husband moved to Connecticut from Cleveland six years ago. Rev. Mr. Wood was pastor here at Trinity Congregational and Highland Congregational Churches.
