2016 November 19

Congratulations to the James A. Garfield National Historic Site of Mentor, Ohio for a successful James A. Garfield Heritage Hike which took place on November 19, 2016 commemorating James A. Garfield’s 135th anniversary of his birth.

About 50 hikers were lead by Rangers from the National Historic Site.  They began their trek at the Birthsite and replica cabin of the President in the Village of Moreland Hillsand ended 12.5 miles away with a wreath laying ceremony at his final resting place, Lakeview Cemetery in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.

Please support our donor Patterson’s Fruit Farm of Chesterland, Ohio who kindly donated apples and cider for the hikers.  A special thank you to the members of The Moreland Hills Historical Society who provided baked goods as well.
